OCTOBER 6: GREAT NEW LOWER PRICE! Vintage Early 1950s KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE BILOXI MISSISSIPPI GUIDE US MILITARY This is an original, rare, vintage item that my Dad’s Mom had saved in a scrap book that was given to me when he passed in 2008. Own an authentic piece US history of the early days of Keesler Air Force Base and the MIssissippi Gulf Coast area from a collection that is part of my father’s Air Force young adult past. Dimensions: 7.75″ x 10.5″ inches. Pages: 32 which includes the outside front and back covers. He was a member of the US AIR FORCE during the Korean War Era. This is the Keesler Air Force Base Guide given to each member as they entered basic training on the base as well as a promotional publication promoting the amazing base in Biloxi, MS. Three staples within the spine and all of the photos are connected and intact. It has a color front cover and black and white images and photos throughout the many pages of this book. The back cover says KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE HOME OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST TECHNICAL SCHOOL The inside back cover page has an incredibly detailed hand drawn map of the Biloxi, Mississippi Gulf Coast area as it was back in 1950. Condition is vintage. Please review the photos to make your own assessment about their quality as I am not an expert! Some aging and wear as expected with some yellowing (aging), some visible moisture spots from way back when it was originally put into storage on some of the pages including the covers but overall in amazing great shape since it has literally been locked away in my Grandma’s Scrapbook. The pages do have a slight odor to them when you put your nose right to the page, like an old book from an old library (best I can describe). Some surface dirt I didn’t clean off, on the front and back covers as welll as some corner wear and the upper left corner of the front cover has a small tear to it. A couple of very small stress tears around the front and back cover edges. However, it is completely dry now and has been for at least 70 years so the moisture issues have been stopped long ago. This has always been in an odor-free, smoke-free, dark, climate controlled storage environment for over almost 74 years until I recently took these photos for this listing. A PERSONAL NOTE FROM THE SELLER (ME): These are very near and dear to my heart because my Dad entered the Air Force in 1950 and it shaped him to become the superhero of a father and the best example of being the best human being to everyone around him that knew him or even just met him that I had the good fortune of having in my life as my Dad and role model. Thank you to Keesler Air Force Base and the U.S. Air Force for laying the awesome foundation he used to become such a great man. I had reached out to KAFB about this treasure trove of items and even letters his mother kept proudly in a scrap book during his tenure with the US AIR FORCE to no avail. I was hoping they would see the significance of such items but have yet to hear back from them. He passed in 2008 and I’ve held on to a lot of emotional and historical items that mean so much to me but I have no one to pass these on to. My Dad always said “It’s just stuff” and that I will always have my memories in my head and heart and he’s right. If I asked him what I should do (and I have) he’d say ” Sell the damn stuff and do something special that makes you happy.” So that’s what has finally led me to posting these items 16 years after his passing on my ebay store. I hope they each find a caring, loving home that understands and appreciates the significance of these items but also appreciates the history and emotion behind them. Thanks for letting me ramble.
