It blooms in Fall with clusters of large, 2 to 3 inch bell shaped, nectar rich, flowers in the rich vibrant tones of coral, pink, mauve, and yellow of a tropical sunset. Blooms best in full sun, bloom is reduced in deep shade, but the plant will grow in significant shade. Leaves can grow to be as much as a foot across in the deep shade, so lends a luxurious, exotic feel to the tropical and subtropical landscape. Plants enter a dormant resting phase in the winter. Leaves fall away and they are often mistakenly thought to be dead or dying. The dormant phase typically follows the bloom cycle in the Fall. Plants will rest thru the winter and resume growing in the late Spring. Shipping in the late Fall and Winter will typically trigger dormancy.
