Onboard Glow Plug Driver / Controller One Button Programmable Fully Isolated And FULLY REGULATED TO DELIVER THE SAME 1.2VDC TO THE GLOW PLUG HARNESS NO MATTER WHAT THE BATTERY VOLTAGE IS FROM 4 – 14V SIMPLY THE BEST ONBOARD RC GLOW PLUG DRIVER THERE IS: 100% opto-coupled electrical isolation between the engine and the receiver A running glow engine can create Eletro Mechanical Interference that can result in loss of radio contact and a crashed airplane! The last thing one should do is connect the engine crankcase to the receiver through the battery or signal lines. This design is fully opto-coupled with no electrical connection between the receiver and either the engine, glow plug, or glow plug battery. Don’t be fooled by cheap imitations that not only provide ZERO isolation, but even run the glow plug off of the receiver battery ??? One Button Programming makes changing the throttle threshold or reversing direction a snap Set the throttle stick on your transmitter at the point you want the glow plug to turn on. Then Press and Release the button on the glow driver to set the threshold. The off-board LED indicator will flash to confirm programming successful. To reverse “direction” AND set the threshold, Press and Hold the button for approximately 2 seconds until the off-board LED indicator flashes twice. It couldn’t be any easier. Controllers are shipped preprogrammed to turn on below about 50% throttle. I use a small cheapo 1300mAh 2S1P 20~40C Lipo Receiver Battery Pack for regular 5 flight flying days and still have over half left on reserve. As a larger example a 2 cell 1700mAh Lipo will provide more than 2-1/2 hours continuous glow plug operation! Assuming a 12 minute per flight time, and the glow plug on 50% of the time during flight (a very conservative estimate), you would get at least 25 flights before having to recharge. For most of us this means all day flying field glow plug operation on a single charge. Wide range of modern glow battery choices With a glow battery range of 4V to 14V you have a choice of running anything from a 4.8v NiCad pack to a 3S Lipo. NiCad, NiMH, PB, Lipo, Lilo, Life, Zinc carbon….. You name it. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s 4V to 14V and can deliver 250mA to 1A (depending on battery voltage). This allows maximum flexibility, and at the same time maximum power density performance as desired. Jumper Selectable built-in 2S Lipo battery protection To enable the 2 cell Lipo battery warning/cutoff feature install the Lipo protection jumper. Low battery warning in the form of a double flash on the off-board LED indicator will occur as the battery voltage approaches 7.0V. Battery cutoff will occur at approximately 6.3V and is indicated by a continuous single flash on the off-board LED indicator. When the protection jumper is removed, a general low battery warning will occur at about 4V with cutoff to prevent controller malfunction at about 3.5V. Threshold programming is disabled when battery is low. Controllers are shipped with protection jumper installed. Battery connects using either standard JR or JST connectors Reverse polarity protection for battery hookup High Quality Head Lock Makes a good electrical connection to the glow plug and stays connected. High Temp Mil-Spec M22759/16-20 Teflon aviation wire used for the glow plug pigtail Plug-in replaceable glow plug and led indicator pigtails In case of a crash or a wire in the prop event, a replacement wiring harness set can be purchased so that the controller can perhaps be salvaged saving you $$$. Easy connection to receiver throttle channel with included double female cable Header connector for throttle servo so no need for Y cable.
