Item Information This listing is for a Heavy Duty Deep Transmission Pan with 3.0 Quarts Extra Capacity for 4WD and 3.5 Quarts Extra Capacity for 2WD 4R100 Transmissions, found in 1989 to 2004 Ford 2WD and 4WD trucks and SUVs with the E4OD or 4R100 transmission. It is finished as cast, in natural aluminum. A magnetic drain plug and all mounting bolts are included with the pan. This pan has been designed for: + Cooling – extra capacity(3.0-3.5 quarts above stock), fins and aluminum construction for reported temperature drops of 10 to 35 degrees + Clearance – medium height maintains clearance + Drain Plug – on the side for safety + Secure Seal – machined flat gasket flange for a leak free seal + Strength – high quality aluminum, thick walls + Fins on bottom of pan for additional clearance + Designed to work with the stock filter and gasket This PML tranny pan fits many 1989 to 2004 Ford 2WD and 4WD trucks and SUVs with the E4OD or 4R100 transmission. Typical applications are: + F250, F350, F450, F550, 1989 to 2002 + F150 Lightning trucks, 1993 to 2004 + Some full size Broncos + Excursion + E250 (5.4 V8), E350, E450 vans and motor homes + Lincoln Navigator Trucks with 5.4L Gas Engine: Check carefully for clearance from exhaust or frame cross members. Generally, the stock exhaust runs too close to the stock transmission pan to allow for a larger pan. Excursion owners: Excursions with V10 engines have reported that the exhaust hits near the front of the pan. Excursion owners have told us that our transmission pan will clear the frame cross member. If you have a 4WD, you may need to loosen the rear transmission mount bolts and jack up the transfer case slightly to ease access to the bolts along the back of the pan. If you have a 460 V8 and a “Banks Power Pack” kit, please check carefully for clearance between the exhaust and the transmission pan. We have had mixed reports from customers. Configurations vary so always check your vehicle. Verify which transmission you have and look for ground clearance and interference from frame cross members or exhaust components. You COULD pay LESS, or you could do it RIGHT the FIRST time and make it your LAST TIME Technical Information PML includes new mounting bolts and a magnetic drain plug with each pan. PML includes new mounting hardware since the stock bolts would not be long enough. The flange of the PML pan is much thicker than the stock pan for a secure seal to the housing. The above image shows the contents of the box for a pan in the as-cast finish as an example. This picture shows the inside of the pan, PML designed this pan to work with stock gaskets and filters. The PML pan has posts cast into the pan on the inside to support the stock filter. These filter supports hold the filter in the same location as the stock pan. The fluid level is at the same place with a PML pan as the stock pan so an extension is not needed. The stock 4WD and 2WD filters should work with the PML pan with no issues, some people prefer the 4WD because of the longer pickup tube. Gaskets PML recommends a flexible cork or cork composite gasket for this pan. We do not recommend hard, reusable gaskets for PML pans as they do not seal properly. Hard, reusable gaskets work best with stamped steel pans. The above photo shows the drain on the left(driver’s)side of the pan, at the deepest area to allow for complete draining. Drilling and tapping for use with aftermarket temp. sensors and gauges is an option. This pan has two locations that can be machined, one on the driver’s side and one on the passenger side. These locations can accommodate from 1/8 to 1/2 NPT. If you would like us to machine the port for you please contact us before ordering, there is a $65 machining charge. Warranty Information PML products carry a lifetime limited manufacturer’s warranty. Our products have proven to be trouble free since we began making them in 2000. If the pan or cover you receive is determined to have some kind of manufacturing defect (i.e., machining problem, leak due to porosity in pan wall), PML will replace the part. If you sell your vehicle with our part installed, we will honor the warranty with the new owner. If you run a cover or pan into a boulder and it cracks or is damaged, well, there’s nothing PML can help you with there. Modifying our products voids the warranty. Our products are designed to fit factory original equipment. However, in some applications, or because of the use of certain factory options and/or after market equipment, there may be clearance or fitment problems between our products and your vehicle components.
