eBay This is a very rare antique Art Deco Egyptian Revival Scarab Pendant or Brooch in Silver with a magnificent Turquoise Blue Faience Scarab with Turquoise adorned wings and Lapis Lazuli and Goldstone gems. The antique jewel is of a monumental size and is a masterpiece of the Art Nouveau to Art Deco period. The dramatic, large scarab is Turquoise colored Faience (glazed earthenware pottery). The scarab has magnificent details and a deep three dimensional design. It is stunning. The wings of the Scarab are decorated with Turquoise gems. At the top of the pendant is an oval blue Lapis Lazuli gem and at the bottom an oval Goldstone gem. The top of the pendant is decorated with an Egyptian Ankh symbol and the heads of the Phoenix or Horus the hawk God. The pendant has a hidden bale and can also be worn as a brooch if desired. The jewel is an exquisite piece of Egyptian revival jewelry! During the 19th century, the discoveries of ancient archaeological finds influenced and brought on what is referred to as “archaeological revival jewelry,” or “Egyptian revival jewelry.” The initial Egyptian Revival period flourished from the 1820s onward, and was inspired by ancient Egyptian imagery, such as the scarab beetle, sphinxes, pharaohs, and hieroglyphics. The pendant is 3.5 inches (9cm) tall. It is 2.5 inches (6 cm) wide. The scarab is 32mm by 22m by 13mm deep. The pendant is silver. The turquoise cabochon on the top right wing is chipped. The necklace is a museum quality jewel. The magnificent carved Blue Sodalite Scarab is a monumental Scarab of 30mm by 20mm by 12mm deep. The carved scarab has exquisite carved detailing on the front as well as on the reverse. The scarab is surrounded by an oval surround with exquisite blue, green and white enamel. Three Lotus Flower pendants hang from the bottom of the pendant. The colors and Egyptian motif are absolutely fabulous. The design continues onto the fabulous link chain which is adorned with the matching enamel colors of blue, green and white. The antique jewel is of a dramatic size and is a masterpiece of the Art Nouveau to Art Deco period. The gorgeous, large blue sodalite scarab is an absolute dream. The scarab has magnificent details and a deep three dimensional design. The chain is one of the most beautiful enamel Art Deco chains we have seen.
