I will be selling pieces from my personal collection of American Brilliant Cut glass, so please add me to your favorite seller list for future rare pieces. …………………………………………………This is a gorgeous antique cut glass bowl- small round shallow size- good for candy, snacks, dips, nuts, relishes, etc. or display in an easel due to its shape and size.Measure: 6″ wide by 1-1/2″ tall. It is from the American brilliant period, (late 1800’s to 1915) which is over 100 years old now! Authentication/Documentation: This pattern is called “Birmington” pattern, and it was cut by Quaker City glass co. on the “no. 143 blank”. You can see this piece in the c.1910 QC catalog reprint from the ACGA on page 5 (though it is misspelled in the book as “Birmingham” instead of “Birmington”) Birmington is the correct name, that was a misprint. This has a gorgeous flashy geometric design. The unique and elegant 6 point star is a lovely main grid, Hobstar center, small hobstars around the outer edge framed in bars with a fan detailing up into the teeth of the rim. The Points of the star grid resemble “Tusks” to me.Condition: This cut glass is over 100 years old. And it looks really good. I only see those very fine contact nips they get on the inside of the rim from age and very light use back in the day, I see no chips, visible fleabites or anything noticeable. I ran my finger tip over the well polished teeth and felt no sharp chunks, dips or issues with the teeth shape. Been a protected Cabinet piece for years, you can proudly display or use with elegance…………………………………………………..No Returns! : Sorry but due to cost of shipping & insurance for this heavy glass, I have a No returns policy! I wrap with lots of bubble and padding, use double boxing, mark fragile clearly all over the box, always pay to fully insure your item as well (so please read about Insurance claims next). Insurance claim (loss or damage): Please do not open a dispute with ebay without contacting me first because it is not necessary. I will make an insurance claim and you will be taken care of. I pack to survive, but if they break it I will need pictures to file the claim online. However, shippers do not just honor claims online anymore with the photo’s only- now they tend to ask for an inspection of the item. USPS will send a letter within a week asking for the item to be brought in for inspection, while other companies may come to the residence for the inspection by appointment. I have to get the claim approved and the item inspected BEFORE I can refund now because they always require inspections and we have to comply with them. So first, pictures. Second, inspection with shipper. Third, shipper approval and refund sent to you.
