Pair of Antique Victorian Fashion Framed Lithographs: Entitled “Magasin des Demoiselle Journal mensuel illustre” “Le Follet Boulevart St. Martin. Gg” Art Medium: Color lithographs Depicting women dressed in the latest fashion of the 1860s. Prints are presented under glass in mustard brown wooden frames. Published in New York, NY, framed in the Judsonia, Arkansas and re-surfaced at the estate sale in Lubbock Texas. Approx. Dimensions: 11 1/2″ x 9 3/4″ x 1 1/4″ (frame) Image size: 9 7/8″ x 7 7/8″ First gravure was originally published bythe periodical Le Magasin des Demoisellesin October 25, 1862 when”Desjardins engraving” was used for the print after Adle-Anas Toudouze illustrations. Desjardinsperfected an original process of chromotypography engraving by the mid of the 19th century. This print is an American replica – Hand Colored and Published in 1938 by Artistic Picture Publishing Co., Inc., New York City GS 815copyrightA. Inc., N.Y. The backing has an ink stamp by the framer – “Jimmy Gill, Dealer in Moulding and Pictures, Judsonia, Ark.” Print is darkened and yellowed. Faded yellow on the furniture and maids dress. Frame has some scuffs and scrapes. Backing also has ink stains with no reflection on the condition of the print as framer was known to repurpose backing materials. Second gravure marked “Le Follet Boulevart St. Martin, Gg. ” attributed to Anaise Coudouze, fashion artist at La Follet magazine. Le Follet was one of the oldest and longest lasting internationally known French fashion plate publications (1829-1892) This is an American replica of a French Victorian print – Hand Colored and Published in 1938 by Artistic Picture Publishing Co., Inc., New York City GS 810copyrightA. Inc., N.Y. It was taken out of the frame to examine any potential damage. Print has an imprint from the cardboard backing, it is darkened and yellowed. Faded rusted tone on the flowers and the shape behind the table cloth. The backing has black print on its own – Woodbur(y’s ) Floor S ..
