My mom received this beautiful set of bowls as a wedding gift in 1958. The pattern is called “Butterprint” and, along with Gooseberry, was the first pattern printed on the new style of Nesting bowls, which was called Cinderella. Released in 1957, Butterprint was the result of growing market trends with its turquoise and white Amish print. Cinderella bowls were a series of large nested mixing bowls with a handle or spout on each side, and designed by John Philip Johnson. The bowls were made of Opalware Glass, with an enamel finish. They were produced in Charleroi, PA by the Corning Glass company. Butterprint was produced until 1968. She has taken wonderful care of the bowls. They have no chips or cracks, and have never been in the dishwasher. The largest bowl (which is blue) has the most wear. There is some paint loss along the top edge, and some minor scratches. Please see the close-up photos of the bowls. The first 4 close-up pics are of the largest bowl. The last close-up is of the smaller blue bowl. The white bowls do not have any paint loss.
