Watchseconds Emporium 1940s Movado 32mm Midsize 18K Solid Gold Bumper Automatic Watch Cal. 115 Fancy Claw Shaped Claw Lugs +1 Year WATCHSECONDS Movement Warranty Make: Movado Year: 1946 (approximate) Country: Swiss Case Shape and Material: round shaped 18K solid gold mid-sized case 39mm L (incl. lugs) x 32mm in diameter x 8mm H (with crystal) in good condition with minor scratches. Original gold mushroom crown. Fancy claw shaped lugs. Plain steel inner movement holder. Solid 18k gold case outer back unmarked but inner case is stamped with the Movado ‘Pocketwatch in Hand’ logo and “18k 750” and bears a Helivetia head punch (the Swiss mark for 18k gold). Monogram: none, clear Dial: 2 tone light grey metal dial with white painted hours track in good condition with light foxing. Has moderate foxing at dial edges (see photos). Signed “Movado” under the 12 position in applied gold letters. Hours track has applied gold numeral markers at even hours and arrow head markers at odd hours. Outer raised dot minutes track. Sunken subsidiary seconds dial at the six position. Movement: Movado bumper automatic movement Movmt Type: Hi-grade Movado 17-jewel thin bumper automatic movement Movement Condition: very good, sets, runs and keeps time to within 1 minute in three positions. Hands: gold lance minute and hour hands in good condition with slight deterioration from age. Black painted steel sub seconds hand in good condition. Crystal: new replacement high dome acrylic crystal in good condition. Band: NOS (New old stock) black lizard grain leather band 17mm wide fits wrist sizes to 7.50 inches. Box: generic hard case display box Papers: None Notes: Classic 1940s Movado ‘bumper’ automatic watch in solid 18k gold, running well and ready to wear. By todays standards. the 32mm mid-size case suits a larger woman’s wrist or a smaller size man. Watch movement is the Movado calibre 115 which is the thinnest bumper automatic movement ever produced. Please be aware that in order to service this watch the movement must be inserted into the case in a special way. There is a tab on the movement carrier which is near the 11 hour marker. the tab must be inserted first into the indentation in the movement ring. Then the rest of the movement is then lowered into place. Failure to observe this detail will cause the watch movement to seat improperly in the case and will result in the watch stopping completely.
